<image:caption>On to my favourite things this week – well firstly I’ve been a little busy. On Friday 9th February 2024 we welcomed Daphne into our home. She is a 6-year-old Cocker Spaniel that came to us from a local animal rescue centre. Unfortunately found as a stray, she melted our hearts when we went to meet her and from that moment there was no turning back. She is a gentle soul with a naughty streak and currently has no boundaries around food, as in her food and our food – making our meal times a little interesting at the moment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Uplifting the Mind, Body and Spirit with a Daily Cacao Ceremony (2024) - Cacao Origins</image:title>
<image:caption>Theobroma translates to “food of the gods” in Greek and cacao is the Spanish adaptation of the word “kakaw” which is the Mayan word for the cacao tree. Cacao has been used in ceremonial practices for centuries as both a spiritual and medicinal practice right back over 5000 years ago in what is now known as Mesoamerica, a region spreading from modern-day Mexico down to El Salvador and Honduras. It is said that the Aztecs and Mayan civilisations created the first cacao plantations, with both believing in a link between the cacao and the divine – cacao was a gift from the gods.</image:caption>

It got me thinking that we’re all very different in the way we approach our weekends, some of us like to take the time socialising and meet up with friends, whereas others may focus on their interests and hobbies and prefer to spend it relaxing and enjoying being at home.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I’ve also re-acquainted myself with my Native Spirit Oracle Cards this week, I just hold them in my hands in the morning, then lay them out on a table and I’m usually drawn to a card, which I pick out and then am able to read it’s meaning, which I always seem to be able to resonate or align to. Whether it is something I take seriously or whether it is just something quite cathartic to do, it certainly seems to set me up for the day ahead.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - What is Ikigai and How to Use It to Find Your Purpose (2022) - What is Ikigai? It comes from Japanese culture and translates to a reason for being, the purpose of life, what makes life worth living, or the meaning of life, and so on. It is said that it empowers you and drives your actions and your purpose.</image:title>
<image:caption>Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. It has four components: Passion, do what you love Profession, do what you are good at Mission, do what the world needs Vocation, do what you can be paid for. I know I want to use Ikigai to gain sense and clarity around the four components for the coming years to really truly define what I would like to achieve next. I will also be providing a template in the coming weeks, so you too can use this concept to map out and set your goals for the coming year and beyond. More on that later.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Not the best photo I know, but I wanted to share this spectacle we have had the chance to witness nearly daily this last week. These are starlings and they gather during the day on the field at the back of my house, the murmuration they create whilst flying around is incredible to see (even though it is relatively small).</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - My Intention: A Return To Wellness - Juicing and more in the coming weeks</image:title>
<image:caption>Juicing was one of my favourite ways to start the day before my diet went astray. This morning I had my first green juice in years and it was fun to make, despite a really bad juicer, which wasn’t really up to the job. I suspect that might be why I gave it up many years ago! Better juicer machine being researched as I type. I loved buying my array of different fruits and vegetables and laying them all out in front of me this morning, cleaning, chopping and taking in the lovely fresh smells. It was a lovely start to the day, as I also forfeited my morning coffee and replaced it with warm water and lemon slices.</image:caption>

<image:title>Book Reviews - Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Summary I believe one of the most powerful and often misunderstood principles in the book is faith. Hill isn’t asking for blind optimism. He is describing a felt sense of safety and expectancy that allows the subconscious mind to accept new possibilities. When the body feels safe, the brain becomes more adaptable. Faith, here, is nervous system permission. The concept of autosuggestion maps beautifully onto what we now know about internal dialogue and self-concept. Repeated affirmations, when paired with emotional presence, reshape neural pathways. But without emotional congruence, they fall flat – a nuance Hill sensed intuitively, even if he didn’t name it scientifically. Perhaps most resonant from a NeuroSoul Coaching perspective is Hill’s recognition that thoughts are energetic. Whether framed as vibration, frequency, or simply emotional tone, our internal state shapes how we relate to the world. We don’t attract what we want – we reinforce what we are regulated enough to receive. Think and Grow Rich carries the language and intensity of its era. But beneath the masculine drive and productivity focus is a timeless truth: transformation begins internally.</image:caption>

<image:title>Book Reviews - Stillness is the Key by Ryan Holiday</image:title>
<image:caption>Introduction This book is written by Ryan Holiday who is a thinker in the realm of stoicism and personal development. I first came across his work on YouTube – check out his channel, it has some great content. Holiday predominantly explores his topic areas aligned with philosophy and aligns the thinking to modern life. Summary This book explores the concept of stillness and how we have lost the ability to appreciate stillness as we live in a world that never sleeps. Holiday foundations are aligned with the stoic philosophy that stillness is essential in our chaotic and noisy world to enhance our strength, focus, and wisdom. He also delves into Eastern spirituality and historical and modern anecdotes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Book Reviews - The Source by Dr Tara Swart - Introduction</image:title>
<image:caption>The Source is written by Dr. Swart, who is a neuroscientist and senior lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Swart provides the science behind the law of attraction and advocates that neuroplasticity of the ‘source’ (brain) is scientifically proven. Essentially ‘The Source’ puts the science behind books like The Secret. It brings hope and encouragement that anything is possible if we apply ourselves in the right way. It is a book of self-discovery and provides a basis for discovering our authentic selves through some simple but effective tools, techniques, and practices.</image:caption>

<image:title>Book Reviews - Thanks for the Feedback by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen - Introduction</image:title>
<image:caption>This book switches up the notion that feedback is the responsibility of the ‘giver’, and moves to the notion that the onus is more on the ‘receiver’ of the feedback. Both authors are lecturers at Harvard Law School and describe how critical it is that we learn to receive feedback because the receiver of the feedback is in charge of what they let in, and how and whether or not they choose to adapt as a result of the feedback. It describes, how from an early age we are constantly receiving feedback, even when we are not asking for it. It focuses on work life, and home life and is an honest look at why receiving feedback is hard and provides a framework and some tools that can help you to make use of the feedback you are receiving. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.</image:caption>
